So I just finished watching the 4 season Netflix series MANIFEST.
First impression, negative or positive? Positive!
Must say, overall I liked it. Well, the first, third and fourth seasons.
During the second one, I felt like they were just going on and on with a bunch of nonsense. I remember something about a boat that was in a storm in ancient times and now somehow the current time's characters are living the same storm in their own living room but it's actually the storm from the past that they're somehow in because of overlapping dimensions or some utter crap so it's raining in their living room or whatever nonsense.
Anyway, let's begin at the beginning.
The series starts out with our main characters, a family, that are at the airport to return home from a vacation.
But another flight that's leaving for an earlier time but for the same destination, has room on it. Or maybe their own flight has been oversold. I don't know why, but for some reason, some members of the family take the earlier flight and some take the other one.
But the one that the father, Ben, and his sister whose name I now forgot but she's really pretty with her blue eyes and blone hair, and his young son is on, arrives at the destination five years after the flight the rest of the family was on.
This baffles everybody of course, because as far as our characters on the plane and the rest of the passengers on this flight 828 know, they just did the flight as normal and aside from a bit of turbulence and lightning, there wasn't anything strange about the flight.
And yet, it arrives at the destination only five years later. By now, Ben and his sister and their young son, along with all the passengers and crew, have been presumed dead, and their families have long moved on without them.
Can't remember but I think Ben's wife has already moved on with another man, and his sister's fiance too. The son who was only a little boy, is now still just a little boy, five years later, while his sister who was also just a small child when the flights took off, is now already a teenager.
The passengers of flight 828 now also realise that they get "callings", which seem to be visions that alert them to other people in trouble, and they can help them in time.
But the public soon becomes divided on the subject of the passengers of flight 828, and some believe there is something very abnormal and untrustworthy of the whole paranormal ordeal.
The government of course too. In the last season, the passengers of flight 828 are literally forced into an indoor concentration camp. Some also have had tests done on them, sometimes with damaging consequences.
Although during the first and second seasons, it appeared the writers of MANIFEST had no intention or even idea of how to explain the paranormal event that caused flight 828 land five years after it had taken off, by the fourth season it was obvious they had decided it was going to be explained by the deduction that the plane had flown into a bright light (not according to the actual event depicted in the first season, but whatever), and had made contact with The Divine, which had chosen them to help stop the end of the world.
Although the tail fin of the plane had apparently been found in the ocean in some part of the series, in the end of season 4 the entire plane rises from underground due to an underground volcano (don't ask the logic. By that time they've indoctrinated you with volcano imagery for so long, you just accept that that somehow makes sense).
The passengers who are still alive, all have to go aboard to be judged by whomever. The Divine or some kind of dark, cgi demon thing.
Those who are considered bad by some kind of standard, get cracks in themselves glowing with lava inside them, until they just burst into ash, while those who are kind and good, get to survive this judgement.
In the end they all disembark from the plane, into some white light, and through a door which turns out to be the door of the airport at which they would have entered the airport way back in 2013 when they were supposed to land, had they not gone through the 5 year delay thing.
And so, their family and friends are waiting for them at the airport, and the latter cannot understand why they seem so overjoyed to see them again, of course knowing nothing of the paranormal timeline they had gone through, which will now never happen.
Yes, quite a satisfying ending. I thought it ended quite good and satisfying for the viewer.
Overall, a very likable series.
Is there anything not so likeable about it? Depends on your political leanings and sanity.
Seeing as this is Netflix, you can expect it to be completely infected with woke motivations.
Expect to never see any couple in which both the man and woman are white, unless the man is abusive or a bad guy. You'll see black and white in the same couple, white and indian, black and black, etc.
Also of course consider it a rarity that any couple would be heterosexual.
The most in your face moment of this woke agenda, was when two adult black lesbian women were talking about how one would so like to start a family with the other. I mean seriously, all I could picture was two hairy vaginas bumping each other "blit blit blit blit blit" - exactly how was this going to result in creating children to "start a family"?
So yeah, your imagination about all kinds of sex will probably run away with you as you watch this desperate Netflix agenda of normalising the banning of white heterosexual couples.
Also of course note how in the end, it is only what appear to be white men being exploded, except for Angelina, a white looking girl but as she had already been shown to be a bad person, there wasn't any way to have her not explode by the "standards" of the show's own storyline.
One might also note how much they tried desperately to associate Christianity with evil. Angelina, the ultimate evil character, has quite a few times a cross behind her while she's doing her evil preaching, as well as she's in a Christian church during one scene of her being evil. Not to mention she quotes from the Bible a few times.
But not just Angelina; a few other times a cross is in the scene while a bad character is on screen at the same time - obviously Netflix no longer cares to be subtle about what used to be subliminal messaging about influencing the audience to associate evil with Christianity.
Also, in the end at the airport, somebody's remarking about how everything is allright now, and at the same time they show that on the TV, Barack Obama is the non-white president of the United States making a speech or something. Really now, everything is ok because Obama is the president? You just know a few Americans might have a thing or two to disagree with there.
Talking about evil black entities, the final Divine bad guy that has been causing all the paranormal stuff this whole time, is revealed to be some black foggy demon creature that appears in the plane after the judgement.
How do they defeat this monster? Well all the passengers just scream at it about how good they are or whatever, until apparently the monster just backs down and leaves them all alone.
Uh...... really? That all powerful demonic creature that could do all this, just decide they're too loud for it? Whooooooooooookey.
I also don't wanna beat a dead horse, but if I recall correctly, this evil monster arised out of the ashes of Angelina, the one who was sort of but not too overtly tied to Christianity a few times. More Christ-bashing then, with Netflix trying to again associate the dark demon monster with Christianity perhaps? Just sayin'.
All in all though, I did have quite a few enjoyable hours watching MANIFEST. I'm always so divided about whether I want to watch any Netflix series, because of the insane amount of time it takes to watch through so many hours and hours and hours, taking days and weeks to do so, just to watch one story from beginning to end.
But sometimes I'm glad I did hang in there, and I would say for MANIFEST, yeah aside from the parts I was a little bored and felt they're carrying on a bit too long with nonsense, I'd say overall it was an enjoyable experience.
