The humidifying effect really makes a world of difference!
It can work directly off of electricity through a USB cable and adapter (3.7V), but it also has a built-in rechargeable 7200mAh battery which means you can carry it with you where you go, and use it for some time, not sure how long but long enough.
This fan can be folded up to be compact and easy to carry around, although you probably will keep it set up once you've set it up. It unfolds and has a telescopic pole to make it longer up to roughly hip height.
It does have a light that folds out that is probably intended to be used as a reading light. This light also has two settings.
In the bottom foot piece there is also a night light, also with two brightness settings, in the shape of a moon.
I'm not sure how much you'll actually use these two lights in this unit, but I do know the fan and the humidifying function you definitely will use a lot.
When filling it up with water, just make sure you don't fill it up too much, or else you'll have trouble getting the humidifying nozzle in the center of the unit to start making that gas cloud effect thing. That's probably one of the first things you'll keep in mind if you can't get it to start with the humidifying cloud after pressing the button for the fogger to start - probably you should pour out some water.
It also has a USB out hole if you need to charge your other electronic devices like a phone by connecting a USB cable to it.
The fan has four speed settings, the last of which is supposed to synthesize natural wind by going fast and slow and fast and slow. I don't like it. I like it at any of the other three settings.
Overall quite a nice fan. I've seen some people ridicule this type of fan because of its "overinvented" fold-up abilities, but naah, I like this fan. Its "complicated" folding up features won't bother you at all. Really not difficult to fold up or set up again when you'd like to use it, and of course you can just keep it set up like a regular fan without having to ever fold it up if you don't need to.
