5 YEAR UPDATE:
Well, the shoes did improve as far as slipperyness is concerned. They became quite comfortable and very nice.
The problem is the durability isn't all that great. I think the problem is the soles might be too fancy and is comprised of too many parts.
For example, as you can see in the picture, the soles are gray and then have another black rubber layer coming over it and curling over the front.
This curled up front layer starts coming loose over time, as well as elsewhere on the shoe.
I tried to fix it with silicone, and it worked somewhat, and maybe you can fix it too with a very strong glue.
Problem is the silicone starts wearing off and coming off. Bummer.
So I think from now on I'll keep an eye open for shoes that are made simpler, with the sole made up out of just one solid unit. Not multiple parts stuck together.
