Unfortunately, what I've just described is similar to the life of us human beings. In our environments where we live, we are permanently living with and being exposed to thousands of chemicals, in the air, in the food and in just about every product, including plastics.
These foreign chemicals, whether we are aware or not, enter our blood stream all the time, and some humans are as insanely dumb as to deliberately increase the load of foreign toxins in their blood stream (and those of others) through poisoning themselves consciously through smoking, using hard drugs for recreation, or eating substances bad for their health.
Other ways of poisoning are less easy to avoid, and may come from installations of building materials in our homes. A vinyl floor for example may give off formaldehyde, toluene, phenol, benzylchloride and more. This is a description of chemicals gassing out or leaking from these materials, even years after it has been installed. Other common materials in our homes and workplaces from which chemicals gas out are furniture, carpets, wall paints, wallpaper, glues, adhesives, cosmetics, toiletries and so many other household furnishings.
Most of these inhaled chemicals are lipid (fat) soluble, and can therefore pass easily from the blood into cell membranes. They concentrate in the brain where they cause symptoms including depression, exhaustion, dizziness and headaches.
Another chemical polluting problem we are living every day is that of pesticides released into the air when sprayed, not to mention the food it's sprayed on that is presented to human beings for consumption. Are these toxins what killed off the bees, and caused all the problems that come with not enough bees pollonating flowers and plants?
Air pollution is continuing actively each and every hour. Breathing in our air adds to the total load of foreign chemicals which have to be detoxified and eliminated from the body. Such toxins have a profound effect on the immune system, causing not only impaired resistance to infections, but also a whole range of allergy-associated health problems. Children in particular may experience a reaction of severe asthma and allergies.
Unfortunately such cases are frequently treated with drugs to alleviate symptons. Though it may help in the short term, using drugs to alleviate symptoms simply add yet another burden of foreign chemicals that the poor body's already overburdened detoxification system has to work through. The sick may become sicker in this downward spiral of disease.
Because of our environment giving us a disadvantage, it is therefore of the utmost importance that you do whatever is in your power to give your body a fighting chance in this chemically polluted world.
Some suggestions may include NOT to smoke; not to live near an industrial area; to eat fresh, non-processed, clean healthy foods (this, in conjunction with exercise, is basically your biggest defense against this polluted environment); and to do all you can to consume clean water and air.
This may include installing a water and air filter, and to avoid installing building materials that gas out chemicals into the air you breathe (it may be a challenge to do without these materials, to find alternatives or even to identify them.
Usually you can identify unhealthy materials by their strong "chemical" smell when they're new.
But granted, it's not easy to avoid these.)
