If you like watching 3D (stereoscopic) movies, then why not broadcast yourself over the web in 3D?
Communicating over the web via webcam is nice, but if you want to rev up the experience, you may like to try a stereoscopic webcam.
It is here you may like to turn your attention to "Minoru", the world's first 3D webcam. Minoru means "reality" in Japanese, and a touch of realistic stereoscopic vision is exactly what he will add to your otherwise ordinary webcamming experience.
Minoru's design is absolutely cute. Not sure if they went for little puppy or robotic lemming type creature, but they really nailed the design - it's so cool.
Minoru connects easily to your computer's USB port and he comes alive with eyes lighting up. Now he is ready to be used with your favorite messaging program like Windows Live Messenger, Skype, AOL instant messenger, OoVoo and many others.
Minoru can also be used to take still photos which you can upload to your profiles on social sites or photo sharing sites. You can also record stereoscopic videos you can upload to video sites like YouTube or any other video sharing sites.
Minoru comes with software that will produce from the two images of Minoru's two eyes a stereoscopic anaglyphic image. This is the kind of stereoscopic image that works with glasses that have one red and one cyan colored lens. You will get five pairs of these glasses with Minoru, but these glasses are commonly available if you need more.
However Minoru can also be used as a standard 2D webcam should you just want to use it for webcamming the old fashioned way.
An upcoming band, "Heroes of She", has used Minoru to record their video and uploaded to YouTube what they believe to be the site's first stereoscopic band music video.
